To January
Dear January,
I
You were loud when you arrived;
You made it known that we'd bid your sister adieu with Habachi and shots,
But, you demanded we have the lentil soup for good luck and keep our heads up, despite the hangover;
And we obliged. Didn't we?
II
When you settled in;
I found myself running around on the lookout for quiet places;
Libraries, coffee shops-you name it,
Just so that I could hit those bar prep books,
You did get in the way on days, didn't you?
With your tantrums, the dreary cold, and the snow.
III
When you finally left,
Things were looking up;
I started getting callbacks, opportunities, and time with the fam.
But, you didn't tell us what'd follow, did you?
And you knew all along what February held, didn't you?
Albeit, thank you.
Sincerely,
Subs.
