November '20
I
Your arrival was impeccable- on the personal front.
I got older,
Don't know wiser, per se.
II
Your mother-2020 was resolute on shedding light on the truth;
So, you continued to follow suit, didn't you?
The questionable democracies and well, last of the remaining authoritarians in Europe,
You kept highlighting them on a microscopic level,
From Tanzania to Belarus.
While some breathe a sigh of relief- Bolivians;
Some were fighting and fleeing for their lives- Ethiopia & Eritrea,
And, some still fighting for their rights- Thailand, the US, Brazil, and France.
III
You did bear some good news,
the vaccine which would protect us all from the virus,
And, put an end to the void and coldness of untimely deaths.
Alas, the vaccine couldn't or wouldn't cure us of the hatred and bigotry so deep-rooted,
that which manifested to the extremes with the arrival of your mother- '20;
Until we decided to look on the inside and ponder,
And ask ourselves,
if we would ever want to walk in the shoes of those we despise-explicitly or implicitly?
Even just for a day or two.
