I
You came with a fierce fire in your eyes,
Maybe, it was the beginning of a new dawn,
Where we couldn't deny what mother nature was vocalizing,
The havoc, the fire, the flooding, and yes, the hurricane.
II
You highlighted that which had been hidden for so long,
And, we saw a glimpse of hope,
An accomplished POC making it to that very system,
which had excluded and mistreated their very ancestors.
III
You showed us what violence looked like,
Up close personal.
And death?
It came in various shapes and sizes,
sometimes through our own misdoings,
and oftentimes through the unjust world, we've created,
In our efforts to justify why we did what we did, and why we do what we do.
