December '20
I
You, my dear, were the most awaited month of the year,
most wanted 2020 to end;
Cause we as humans still believe in the "New Year, New Me" idea,
And we were holding onto the hope that maybe 2021 would be better,
And maybe, we would be relieved
from the pain, the untimely deaths, and the sense of loss.
II
You didn't seem to care one way or the other,
as the world didn't go from tragedy to comedy.
Events continued as we advanced to 2021,
And so did resolution, hope, and determination,
to make it better, to be better, and do better.
III
You were and will always be the last of the days of 2020,
where we finally started moving on,
learning from our mistakes and tragedy.
And, hopefully, you wouldn't be the last of times,
to teach us the value of rising back from the ashes like a phoenix;
But, together, as humanity.
