Control v. Abnegation.

It is always
better to have an effective control over things and situations that are part of
your life, rather than to renunciate them completely. The reason is simple:
Once you give up on things without having a bridle over one’s own inefficacy
and urges, you tend to overindulge in those things, when you get a chance to
have them again. Either you should be totally secluded from the probability of
being even a hint close to it or you should have been the one who never felt
prey to its captivity in first place. So, that you have never tasted it, and
that makes it easier at least, provided you are resistant enough. You will
never have that craving to taste it! Neither of which is exclusively possible
for a normal human. So, better choose to have an effective and sustainable
control over things. Like, if you ask a chain smoker to give up on cigarette completely,
he might, for a while or longer. But, what then? His yearning is so loud that
he will not be able to hold back, then again he is in a way or other trapped in
the fen. The quagmire of his own capnomaniac self!
My own
experience has made me stick to the statement that, it is better if we control
our thirst; quench it drop by drop rather than turning off the source
completely or overflowing it!
